For home and business glass: windows, doors, shopfronts, shower screens. Not car windscreens.
Short answer: industry guidance from the Australian Glass & Window Association (AGWA) is that a broken non-safety pane in a sliding door is replaced with Grade A safety glass, not like-for-like. Send photos and the door type, and we pass your request to one local glazing business.
How much does sliding door glass replacement cost in Perth?

Why does sliding door glass have to be Grade A?
Doors are where people walk into glass. AS 1288 has a human impact section covering doors and side panels, and AGWA's fact sheet recommends that a broken non-safety sliding door pane is replaced with Grade A safety glass rather than like for like.
So if your older slider has ordinary annealed glass, expect the glazier to recommend Grade A safety glass for the new pane.
Do both panes of the door need replacing?
Usually only the broken one. AGWA says existing buildings generally aren't upgraded to new standards retrospectively, but the glazier should tell the owner in writing if the other pane doesn't meet current standards. Whether to replace it too is then your call.
What should I do tonight if a glass door shatters?
Keep everyone in shoes and away from the doorway. A toughened door breaks into small granular pieces that spread a long way, so sweep wide. Don't slide a broken door. Photograph it, then request a glazier to board up.
If anyone is hurt, or a crime is in progress, call 000. For a break-in that has already happened, WA Police take reports on 131 444 or online. If you plan to claim, see broken glass insurance claims before paying for a board-up.
Can a cracked glass door be repaired?
Normally it is replaced. Toughened glass can't be cut or reworked after it is made, and Glazewell says crack repair isn't a safe long-term fix. If the frame, rollers or track are damaged too, ask for those in the quote.
