For home and business glass: windows, doors, shopfronts, shower screens. Not car windscreens.
Short answer: if the frame is sound, replacing just the glass is usually far cheaper than a new window. Glazewell, a Perth glazier, publishes $280–$1,400 per pane supplied and installed; hipages puts a whole new window at $800–$1,500 upwards. We pass your request to one local glazing business.

Do I need a glazier or a window maker?
A glazier, if you only need new glass in a sound frame. Whole-window and frame replacement is a different job, usually done by window makers and installers. Glazewell says damaged frames add $200–$800 to a glass job, so mention any frame damage.
Glass-only and whole-window costs are set side by side in repair or replace window glass.
Why is my double-glazed window foggy between the panes?
Condensation between the panes usually means the unit's perimeter seal has failed. Wikipedia notes it can generally only be fixed by replacing the sealed unit. Glazewell says double-glazed units take 3–7 working days because they are made to measure.
It is rarely an emergency. Choose This week or Just after pricing on the form.
Should I upgrade the glass while it is being replaced?
It is a good time to ask. Glazewell notes many Perth owners upgrade a broken pane to laminated, Low-E or double-glazed glass. hipages says double glazing and Low-E glass cost more but can save up to 25 percent on energy bills.
The energy figure is hipages' claim, not ours; results depend on the home.
Will insurance pay for replacement glass?
It depends on your policy. A failed double-glazing seal happens slowly rather than in one event, so check your policy wording before assuming it is covered. For sudden breakage, Moneysmart says call your insurer before paying for repairs.
Is a cracked or foggy pane urgent tonight?
A foggy unit isn't. A crack is urgent only if the glass is loose, the window won't close or it is a door people walk through. Tape over a crack, keep people clear, and see the emergency steps.
